ABOUT TROTTER

TROTTER is a Kolkata base CSO (Civil Society Organisation) working at science – society interface towards sustainable environment development and poverty alleviation in India eco-region. Trotter started its journey in the year 2003 by a group of young adventurous people those who trotting around the high altitudes areas of Himalaya, forest, mangrove and wetland to provide support to the fellow villagers.

Trotter emerged as a Non Government Organization (NGO) in 2016 by virtue of Society Registration and started its activities in the domain of Environment, Climate change, Biodiversity, WASH and Livelihood creation by involving civil society and other stakeholders.

Objective

Objectives of Trotter

1.To address environmental conservation issues especially with reference to lakes, wetlands, floodplains, mangroves and tropical rainforests.

2.To conduct research at science-society interface for sustainable development and poverty alleviation by assuring alternative livelihood through risk spreading and coverage

3.To inculcate awareness and community preparedness for disaster mitigation and adaptive strategies for resilience to climate change amongst all stakeholders.

4.To impart environmental education through publications and review of environmental laws, policy, planning and negotiations.

5.To enhance capacity building for innovation and green technology transfer in rural sector and encourage environmental stewardship for health & sanitation.

6.To incorporate strategic communication framework using digital technologies including alternative media as means of facilitating climate change risk adaptations.

Partnership and Networking

Trotter is working in partnership with various organizations, institutes and CSOs across South Asian countries that include Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri lanka, Taiwan. It has been a member of the working group for Natural Resource Management, Agriculture and Fisheries to NITI AAYOG of India and also member in the steering committee for natural resource management and in the advisory council of National Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction, India & National Institute of Disaster Management. It actively networks with various national and international organizations.
